Hey Jack! This is comment is not really about your bike (although you have a sweet looking machine, there) but I was poking around on your blog(s) and saw a picture of Rocky. Gosh he looked like a great friend. Have you got any other dogs? I've two--but also I make my living as a veterinary technician, so I get to see lots of animals at work.
Take care!

Hi there Jolly Crank. Alas I had only one Dog and he was 13 1/2 the Previous Dog I had was a kind of Chunky Daschund almost like a Miniature Rotweiler. With Rocky he got very Heavy and Developed Arthritis ,he Collapsed Twice and had a Hard time getting back Home with him.He was to heavy to carry so he had to Crawl back to the House from a local Park.He was able to get over this after an Hour or so on both occasions.
He must have heard a noise overnight and tried to run over to my Back Door and collapsed. I heard him Barking and found him in a Collapsed Condition. I left it for Two Days hoping he would eventually get to his Feet but no he could not move,so I tried lifting him but he Squealed in Agony.
I got the Vet out to the House and she said all Muscle tone was gone with nothing left to support him,so the Kindest thing was t put him to Slip. I had used Metacam on him for the Arthritis and had just got him Revacinated a few Weeks before.
The Golden Rule with Dogs is never let them get Overweight, keep em Lean and keep them keen. Though Rocky was at an age that he would not have lasted much Longer him being a big Dog. The Smaller Dogs Live Longer.
I probably will get a New Dog but it will be a Smaller one.One that I can carry around in a Dog Basket on my Bikes.
I will be going to the Animal Sanctuary to get a Dog. I would not be Fussy about what Breed it was, just a nice Dog or maybe even two. Thanks for your Comments,Good Luck Jack.

It's tough when a friend leaves you, isn't it? I own a wire hair fox terrier (10 yrs) and redbone coonhound (American breed) German shepherd mix (4 yrs old).
With the big fellas you get that vicious circle of their joints bothering them so they can't keep the weight off as well through exercise, so they just get heavier and their joints hurt more. I performed and assisted with many euthanasia (which is the hardest past of my job, by far). So I've come to learn that quality of life is so important for a dog and a loving owner usually knows when it's time to say goodbye. It doesn't make it any easier, though. Sorry for your loss.
My bike basket is so big I can put the terrier in it no problem and he's 25lbs!
When you're ready to get another friend, I hope you post some pics!

Thanks Jolly Crank for the kind Words.
When I got Rocky he was terribly Skinny some People thought he was a Greyhound. He was around 1-2 Years Old then, and for the next Year I had great Problems with him Barking when I was away from the House until he finally settled down.
I shall certainly Post Pictures if I get another Dog,certainly .

Thanks Jack.
