The Battle of the Boyne July 12th 1690

I went on a Spin to Drogheda which is around 80K or 50 Miles from Dublin in County Louth about two Weeks ago. This time I was Determined to have a look at the Site of the Famous Battle in 1690 before they Closed for the Evening,I got there at 6.30 pm and the Estate was still open. I went up a no Exit Entrance as the other one was locked determined to take a few Picture at least before being asked to go.

T his is where the Famous Battle between The Glorious Prinz Willem of Oranjze/ King Billy and the Protestant Faith Versus King Jame's and the Catholic Faith for the Throne of England in what is now Oldbridge Estate on the River Boyne. It contains an Old Georgian House and Parklands.

As it is now coming up to the 12th of July Anniversary of the Battle in 1690 I thought I would Post a few Pictures here of the Site and some on my Way there and Home. Two Unusal Place Names in Garristown and one when I stopped to change the Batteries on my front Light at 10 pm on way Home.

Visit to Drogheda and the Battle of the Boyne Site of 1690.

Clontarf Cycle Path.

One of the few Decent Cycle Paths in Dublin that are Segregated from the Road. But I hate these Poles that suddenly Rear up in front of you they are Dangerous if you do not see them quick enough.

They are there to stop Cyclists from holding up Cars coming out of the Carpark, why is this. It should be the other way round with Cars Yielding to Cyclists. Cars should not be given a right of way. If the Government put Poles in the Centre of the Road Motorists would kick up a Stink about it so why should Cyclists be Discommoded in any way. These Poles are very Dangerous.

Illegally Parking on the Cycle Lanes in Dublin.

Spotted on the Howth Road Killester at Furry Park recently, Parked on a Cycle Lane with a Continuous White Line. Motorists do not care in Ireland and why should they I have never seen them Ticketed or Punished in any way by the Police. Our Infrastructure is all only very Token, nice White Lines Drawn in the Road with a nice Red Strip, the Tourists will like the Nice Colours on the Road .

Cycle Lanes were brought in to Protect the Cyclists from the Dangerous bad Drivers in Ireland and what do the Motorists do just ignore them. The Gardai just ignore them as well.
