I was Bored Stiff last Monday Week so I took a Spin out to Howth as it was a Lovely Warm Sunny Day. We have had a lot of Rain on and off for Three Weeks so it would be a Pity to Waste a Fine Summers Day.
I got out to Howth and I noticed the Two Trawlers that had Sunk a few Days before nothing had been done with them. There was an Awful Pong of Diesel Fuel coming up from the Waterside, and there was a Boom in Place to stop the Pollution from Spreading. The Police are Treating this with Suspicion as a possible case of Vandalism or Deliberate Sabotage.
The Fishing Industry is in a Bad way now Due to Cuts in the Fishing Quota and more Boat's have been Ordered to be Sold or Broken up by the EU. Fishing Boats are Hard to Sell now as few People want them and the Fishermen are Angry at the Government and the EU. When Ireland Joined the EU they were just getting a 200 Mile Fishing Limit and that was Thrown out when we Joined the EEC. We have one of the Smallest Quota's but we had the Fish back then but thing's are different now with Reduced Catches. Before I went Home I Bought some Fish from Doran's the Fish Merchants on the Pier . It is a whole lot Cheaper getting it of these Fish Mongers than Buying it in the Supermarkets and you get Beautiful Fresh Fish
A Pic of King George iv Footprints Etched in the Granite on the West Pier when he Paid a Visit back in 1821.
Seals about 200 Metres from the Sunken Trawlers,People Feed them with Fish they buy from the Fishmongers and the Seagull's Swoop down to Rob it out of their Mouths
my Raleigh Bike on the West Pier.
On the Way Home at Saint Annes Housing Estate on the Howth Road Raheny ,beside Saint Annes Parklands Formerly the Housing area was part of the Parklands where the Old Big Landed Gentries House was
The Sunken Trawlers.
The Lighthouse on the East Pier.
It is mainly about cycling Infrastructure and How I would like to see it improved in my Country, about Bike Accoutrements , Dogs ,Cats, and other Things but mainly about Cycling.

The Battle of the Boyne July 12th 1690
I went on a Spin to Drogheda which is around 80K or 50 Miles from Dublin in County Louth about two Weeks ago. This time I was Determined to have a look at the Site of the Famous Battle in 1690 before they Closed for the Evening,I got there at 6.30 pm and the Estate was still open. I went up a no Exit Entrance as the other one was locked determined to take a few Picture at least before being asked to go.
T his is where the Famous Battle between The Glorious Prinz Willem of Oranjze/ King Billy and the Protestant Faith Versus King Jame's and the Catholic Faith for the Throne of England in what is now Oldbridge Estate on the River Boyne. It contains an Old Georgian House and Parklands.
As it is now coming up to the 12th of July Anniversary of the Battle in 1690 I thought I would Post a few Pictures here of the Site and some on my Way there and Home. Two Unusal Place Names in Garristown and one when I stopped to change the Batteries on my front Light at 10 pm on way Home.

Clontarf Cycle Path.
One of the few Decent Cycle Paths in Dublin that are Segregated from the Road. But I hate these Poles that suddenly Rear up in front of you they are Dangerous if you do not see them quick enough.
They are there to stop Cyclists from holding up Cars coming out of the Carpark, why is this. It should be the other way round with Cars Yielding to Cyclists. Cars should not be given a right of way. If the Government put Poles in the Centre of the Road Motorists would kick up a Stink about it so why should Cyclists be Discommoded in any way. These Poles are very Dangerous.

Cycle Lanes were brought in to Protect the Cyclists from the Dangerous bad Drivers in Ireland and what do the Motorists do just ignore them. The Gardai just ignore them as well.
